Arline (Cummings) Brown, 87, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at her home. Born December 20, 1929 in Manchester, she was the eldest daughter of the late Howard and Stella Cummings. She attended Manchester Public Schools and remained a lifelong Manchester resident. Arline had a long and rewarding career as a real estate paralegal at various Hartford law firms including Schatz & Schatz Ribicoff and Kotkin and Day Berry & Howard. At the time of her retirement, she was employed by Phelon Fitzgerald & Wood in Manchester. She was a devoted member of Soroptimist International of Greater Hartford, a service organization dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls for over 40 years. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie and Carl Rankin of South Windsor, her sister Alice Freeman of Manchester, her grandchildren, Nicole Rankin of South Windsor, Danielle Rankin of Windsor and Carl Rankin of South Windsor, great-grandson Ryan McCausland of South Windsor, niece Crystal Affricano of Coventry, nephew Ernie Affricano (Tonya) of Newington and Aunt Beulah Palcich of Berlin. She was predeceased by her sister Karen Rose Affricano. A very special thank you to her caregivers Janine Campbell, Marlene Newland and Julette Samuels for the loving and compassionate care they provided. Family and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
