Angela Velasco

Angela Velasco(Caballero) passed away at home on July 16, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Cuba on May 31, 1940. She worked as a first grade teacher in Cuba. Angela and her family left Cuba in 1966 and came to the United States in 1967 after spending a year in Spain. Angela worked for twenty years at Aetna followed by five years at Chubb Insurance and then retired to take care of her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bridget Church in Manchester and St. Peter's Church in Hartford. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends. Angela leaves behind her husband of 51 years Juan, her two children, Jose and Maria, two grandchildren, Jake and Sara Velasco, her sister, Magaly Guevara and her husband, Felipe, her aunt, Mirta Moneo and her husband, Bart along with her nieces, Ana Mezei, Mimi Turner, Mayte Behar and several cousins. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 12 pm at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
