Alice C. Robert

Alice C. Robert, of Manchester, beloved widow of Jean M. Robert, died peacefully, Saturday October 10, 2015 at Manchester Manor. She was born in New Bedford, MA., daughter of the late Robert T. & Mary K. Coggeshall. She was the mother of Carol Borowski and Jeffrey Robert, grandmother of Brian Maguire, Jacob Pinard, Jennifer and Sarah Robert and great grandmother to Andrew, Jamison & Sean Maguire, Maci Maguire, Chad Varkal and Victoria Junck. She was predeceased by her brothers, William and Robert Coggeshell, her son Joel Robert and her grandson Patrick Maguire. She and her family moved to Manchester in 1955. She was an avid gardener, book reader, bird watcher and enjoyed many vacations with her husband at Wellfleet Cape Cod and in Bermuda. They also traveled across the country to Vancouver via rail. Alice graduated from New Bedford High School and then attended nursing school and attained her RN from Boston Children's Hospital in 1950. She received her BSN in 1967 from UConn and her MA in Speech, Hearing and Language Pathology in 1971. Alice started the Early Childhood Special Education Program in 1971 with kindergarten aged children. During her 17 years in the program, 3 and 4 year olds were added. She was very proud of the growth of her students. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau - National Honor Society of Nursing, American Speech and Hearing Association and the Retired Teachers of Manchester. It is Alice's wish that there be no funeral or memorial services and that her ashes be scattered in Wellfleet Bay where her husband's ashes were scattered several years ago.
