Alfred F. Crommett, 95, of Shrewsbury, MA and South Windsor, CT, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Jane (Ringoen) Crommett and the late Joan (Filsinger) Crommett. Alfred was born in Worcester, MA on June 26, 1919, son of the late William G. and Elisabeth (Hobbs) Crommett. He graduated from Clark University, Worcester, earning a Bachelor Degree and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Alfred resided in Shrewsbury, MA for most of his life where he worked as an accountant and then in his later years as a computer programmer. Some of his happiest memories are of sailing on Narragansett Bay, RI. He was also a longtime member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Worcester. Alfred is survived by his loving family, a son, Theodore W. Crommett and his wife, Nancy of Vernon, three grandchildren, Catherine Crommett and her husband, Jason Lambert, Dennis Crommett and Elise Crommett, two step-grandchildren, Daniel Rossano and Lindsay Rossano and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wives, he was predeceased by his son David R. Crommett and a sister, Liz Quast. A memorial calling hour will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 A.M. Private burial will follow with military honors in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury, MA. Memorial contributions in Alfred's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
