Alexander James Matthew

Alexander James Matthew, 93, of Manchester, CT, passed away on Sunday June 26, nine days short of his 94th birthday.
Alex was born July 5, 1928, in Barre, VT, and relocated to Boston, MA in 1940.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps at 17. Alex went on to serve in the Navy during the Korean War.
In 1956 Alex married his late wife Jeanne Matthew, whom he was married to for 64 years, and had four children together.
Alex was a collector, he loved coming across antiques or historical items and enjoyed sharing his unique finds with his friends and family.
He was a lifelong member of the Shriners, Masons, the Local Washington Club in Manchester and the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by two sons, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A Grave Side Service will be held July 14 at 10am at East Cemetery in Manchester, CT. Please meet directly at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital.
