William Gregory Gabriele, age 70, passed away peacefully on Feb 9 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born in Danbury on July 22, 1948, to the late Joseph S. and Katherine (Piskura) Gabriele. Bill grew up in the family house owned by his grandfather, Joseph A. Gabriele, on Liberty St. He graduated from Danbury High in 1967, and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Bill married Susan Ingardia in 1976, and they raised their children in New Milford and Brookfield. He was a longtime member of Kiwanis and Lions Club, at the latter earning their highest honor, the Melvin Jones award for volunteer service. Bill and Susan retired to Manchester in 2012, where he was a regular volunteer at the MACC Food Pantry, and a member of Center Congregational Church. His greatest pride and joy was his family; in addition to his wife Susan of 42 years, he was devoted to his daughters: Julie Gabriele and her husband William Haydasz, and Joanna Burnham and her husband Matthew; and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Abigail Burnham. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings and their spouses: Kathleen Gabriele and Kathryn McCoy, and Robert and Lori Gabriele; a large extended family, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his half-brother and sister-in-law, Joseph G. and Marilyn Gabriele. Friends and family of all beliefs are invited to attend calling hours at Center Congregational Church, 11 Center St. in Manchester on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5-7 pm and Saturday, February 16th from 10-11 am with a memorial service to be celebrated at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated for the MACC Food Pantry, Center Congregational Church, or the South Windsor Lions Club.
