Roger D. Stevens Sr., 71, of Manchester, loving husband of 35 years of the late JoAnne (Stauty) Stevens passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 after an extended illness. Roger was born on March 18, 1947 in Lee County, Virginia one of ten children of the late Luther and Cassie Stevens. He was raised in Virginia before moving to North Carolina and had resided in Manchester for over 35 years. Roger was a veteran of the US Army. He was a longtime self employed truck driver. Roger was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on the Connecticut River. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on television. He is survived by his son; Roger D. Stevens Jr. and his wife Donna of Salisbury, NC, his three daughters; Rashona Baxa of Salisbury, NC, Sandra Burns of East Berlin, CT and Nichole Spencer and her wife Jodi of East Hartford, CT, his two brothers; Douglas and Steven Stevens, four sisters; Nita Grubb, Jean Turley, Shelia Collier and Lena Griffin, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his wife and parents Roger was predeceased by his three brothers; Johnny, Gerald and Phillip and his son-in-laws Jay Baxa and Douglas Burns. A graveside service will be held in (Section P. Westminster) of East Cemetery, 240 East Center St in Manchester on 12/21/2018 at 1pm. There are no calling hours.
