Patricia Alice (Quinn) Riley, 82, of Alameda, CA, beloved wife of the late Wilson Z. Riley, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at Cardinal Point Retirement Community.
She was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Cedarburg, Wisc., daughter of the late Christopher James and Mary Ellen (Lonergan) Quinn and had been a resident of Manchester, CT since 1970. Mrs. Riley, the first woman in her family to go to college, was a graduate of Alverno College and Boston University, where she studied nursing and earned two graduate degrees. She was a longtime member of St. James Church in Manchester and active in the church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and on the Church Council. She had a deep faith, a devotion to St. Theresa of the Little Flower and was very joyful whenever she received roses in answer to her prayers (and she received many). She was an incredible mother, a caring friend and a mentor to many during her years teaching nursing and as an administrator at various hospitals and health care institutions. She was funny and loved to tease her family and friends. Her smile lit up the room. She was also an avid Red Sox fan and a supporter of UConn Women’s basketball.
She is survived by two daughters, Theresa D. Riley of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margaret E. Riley, and her husband, Kevin Depew, of Alameda, Calif.; two grandchildren, Finian Riley Depew and Delia Reece Depew; and several nieces and nephews.
