Ojars Nagelis, 86, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was born on February 23, 1932 in Latvia, one of three children of the late Rudolfs and Marta Nagelis. Ojars was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea. He was employed as a carpenter, including working for the former Sage-Allen Co. in Hartford for over 17 years. Ojars was a longtime dedicated member of the American Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending many hours on the water in his retirement years. He is survived by three nieces and two nephews; Viktors (Cynthia) Muiznieks, Maira (Edmund) Muiznieks Rieger, Nora (Brent) Muiznieks Steele, Victoria Nagelis (Richard Toomey) and David Nagelis, all their families, several cousins and his good friend Pastor Dace Jansone whom will officiate Ojars funeral service. In addition to his parents, Ojars was predeceased by his sister Guna Muiznieks and his brother Juris Nagelis. A calling hour will be held at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm with a service to begin at 12:30 pm at the funeral home.
