Noel R. Taft, 88, of Manchester, beloved husband of 63 years of Marlene (Ringstone) Taft passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on December 13, 1930 in Rockville son of the late Ralph and Regina (Kloter) Taft. He was raised in Rockville, attended local schools and had been a resident of Manchester since 1955. Noel was a veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 having earned the rank of Technical Sergeant and was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars. Noel was employed for over 30 years as a sheet metal mechanic for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until his retirement in 1993. He was a school crossing guard for the Town of Manchester for several years as well. Noel enjoyed fresh water fishing at Lake Champlain and St. Albans and spending time with the family pets. In addition to his wife Marlene he leaves his son David Taft of Manchester, his daughter and son-in-law Shari and Rob Hennequin Jr. of Manchester, his sister Carol Carney of New Port Richie, FL a niece Nola Carney of Massachusetts and a nephew Kent Carney of Texas. Funeral services and burial in East Cemetery, Manchester will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
