Jeffrey A. Mattson passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 with his wife and best friend Judy (Vosburgh) Mattson at his side. He was 75 years young. Son of Ray and Marian Mattson, now deceased, he was born in New Britain and grew up in Glastonbury. Jeff, never a traditionalist, spent his early years after high school traveling and working in places like Venice Beach, Calif., Michigan and Alaska. He returned to CT where he met Judy. She settled him down, sort of. They were married 40 years and were the proud parents of Erik Mattson , San Francisco, Calif. Jeff went back to school at the age of 36, earning high honors and an associate degree in Electronics. He worked for Tyco Electronics until his retirement at 62. He and Judy took up kayaking many years ago and traveled to the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Newfoundland and as far south as the Everglades with their boats. His most passionate hobby was investing. His greatest joy was the fruit of his “investment success”, a Harley Davidson motorcycle. One of his happiest places was Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, Canada. Jeff could sit for hours looking out at the Bay of Fundy. He left the way he came into this world - quiet and unassuming, yet a wild man at heart. He was a kind, sweet, gentle man with a great sense of humor. A gathering of friends and family will take place at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St, in Manchester, CT on Tues, April 30th from 5-7 pm. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army, 661 Main St, Manchester, CT 06040 or Foodshare, 450 Woodland Ave, Bloomfield, CT 06002. To leave an online condolence please visit www.holmeswatkins.com
