Isabel Lilly (Hughes) Hoar, 94, of Bolton, beloved wife for over 50 years of the late Harold L. Hoar Sr. peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at home with her family at her side. She was born on October 1, 1924 and raised on an agricultural farm in Philmont, NY. She was one of five daughters of the late Andrew and Barbara Hughes. Isabel along with her husband Harold owned & operated Harold & Sons Rubbish Removal of Bolton for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Bolton. Isabel was an avid and gifted gardener with two green thumbs. She spent many hours in her yard tending to her flowers, vegetables, fruit plants and trees. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, knitting and sewing. Isabel was well known for her beautiful knitted slippers which she made and often gave as gifts. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 102 in Manchester. As much as she enjoyed her hobbies her greatest love was spending time with her family. Isabel is survived by her two sons; Andy Hoar and his wife Carol, Harry Hoar II and his wife Pat, and her daughter-in-law Loretta Hoar all of Bolton, seven loving grandchildren; John Hoar and his wife Alexa, Jennifer Nichols and her husband Phil, Harry Hoar III and his wife Gina, Christina Bradway and her husband Vinnie, Harold Hoar III and his wife Tina, Nathan Hoar and his wife Miranda, Joey Hoar and also numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Isabel was predeceased by her son Harold L. Hoar Jr. and her four sisters. Isabel’s family wishes to thank all of her caregivers; without them she would not have been able to stay in her home! Calling hours will be held at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church of Bolton, 1041 Boston Turnpike (Route 44) Bolton CT 06043. Burial will follow in Quarryville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Bolton or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
