Hazel C. (Conklin) Wessels, 95, of South Windsor, wife of 62 years to the late Erwin Wessels Jr., passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019, in West Hartford. She was born in Canton, CT on December 23, 1923 to the late Burt and Rose (Case) Conklin.
Hazel was a very kind and caring individual. She always took care of her family anyway that she could. She loved spending time outdoors enjoying nature as it passed by her. In her spare time, she loved to garden and travel to various towns and beaches all over the United States. She also had an immense love for animals. Always donating to local animal shelters and rescue organizations.
Hazel is survived by her sister Arlene Griswold and her husband Richard and her son George Wessels. As well as her four loving grandchildren; Christine Carlson and her significant other Steve McCracken, Brad Wessels and his wife Natalie, Leah Wessels and Jana Jordan and her husband Josh. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Elaine “Eli” Carlson.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 4:30-6:30 pm at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester with a service to begin at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr, Anderson, South Carolina next week.
