Gladys W. (Wilson) Garrison, 93, lifelong resident of Manchester and beloved wife to the late Wilbert “Bud” Garrison, passed away peacefully December 30, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born in Manchester on October 17, 1925, to Samuel J. and Margaret (Sheekey) Wilson.
Gladys grew up in Manchester, attended local schools, and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1943. Before her retirement in 1986, she worked as a Secretary for Pratt & Whitney for over 25 years. Family was very important to Gladys. She enjoyed spending time with them as much as she could. She loved hosting parties and gatherings and among her favorites were the 4th of July and Christmas Eve parties. Throughout her life she was an avid swimmer. She swam in high school and continued to do so up until the more recent years. Gladys was also a communicant of Church of the Assumption, Manchester.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Susan Beroza and her husband Crispin, of Boyds, MD, her son-in-law Daryl Ross of Manchester, her four grandchildren Caitlin Beroza, Chelsea Beroza, Melissa Silberberg and her husband Matthew, and Matthew Ross and his wife Kelly; five great-grandchildren Briana, Ryan, Sarah, Emily and Emma and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Bud, she was predeceased by her daughter Barbara G. Ross, her parents and her sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams St., Manchester. Guests are asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial donations in Gladys’s name may be made to the Barbara G.
