Gene W. Mandt, 72, of Mansfield Center, loving husband of 48 years of Priscilla (Shauger) Mandt, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. He was born July 28, 1946 in Paterson, New Jersey son of the late Eugene and Andrea (Lincoln) Mandt. Gene served proudly for eleven years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked for Aetna Life & Casualty for over 20 years retiring in 2004 as an Operations Manager. Gene was a supporter of the Manchester Salvation Army Church. He was a longtime member of several posts of the American Legion. In addition to the love of his life Priscilla, he is survived by his brother Robert Mandt of Lake City, FL; two sisters; Barbara Lakoski and her husband Kevin of Fremont, WI and Susan Kelley and her husband Michael of Moorestown, NJ; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Bell of Manchester; five nieces, two great-nieces and two great-nephews. Gene loved his family dearly and all that knew him were touched by his gentle and loving nature. He will be greatly missed. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held in East Cemetery, Manchester at a date and time to be announced. There are no visitation hours.
