Ernest E. Brown Jr. 82, of Manchester, beloved husband of 53 years of the late Patricia (Schroeder) Brown passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born on July 9, 1936 in Hornell, NY one of five children of the late Ernest E. Brown Sr. and Evelyn (Stoddard) Brown. Ernie was raised in Hornell, attended local schools and was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1954. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge 1959. Ernie began his 40 year career with Hamilton Standard in 1959 working as a Fuel Control Technician. During his employment, he attended the Ward School of Electronics where he was an Engineering Technician Communications Major. He was instrumental in developing several inventions from our time with the Apollo Mission Backpacks to Fuel Systems and Fuel controls for the Pratt and Whitney F119 engine, the F-22 Raptor, and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Ernie enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing softball. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, NY Giants and the UConn basketball teams. However, his greatest enjoyment came in watching his grandchildren grow up and following their sports. Stephanie was a top notch softball player in Hebron, earning the MVP in her 8th grade year. Cameron was an outstanding baseball and football player, also earning, 10 years to the day after his sister, MVP of his baseball team in his 8th grade year. Nothing pleased him more than going out and cheering on his legacy. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Diane and Paul Woodruff of Binghamton, NY, his sister-in-law Carol Brown of Ashville, NC, several nieces, nephews, cousins and all their families.
