Edwin Michalek, 81, of Manchester, CT passed away December 5, 2018. Ed was born in Lackawanna, NY to Theodore and Julia Michalek on April 29, 1937. After graduating from Saint Francis High School Ed served in the Army for two years. During this time he married his wife, Dora (Pittman) Michalek, of 58 years, and they started their family in Aberdeen, Maryland. After leaving the service, they moved back to the Buffalo area, then to Syracuse and finally settled in Connecticut where they raised their five children. He was a traveling salesman for many years and enjoyed getting to know people in his travels. Ed enjoyed watching western shows, listening to Frank Sinatra and the old classics, watching basketball, and tinkering with gadgets and electronics.He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchilden. Ed was a devout Catholic, had an amazing dry sense of humor, and was an avid Red Sox fan. Although he left Buffalo, he always followed the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Having family over always put the biggest smile on his face.
Ed is predeceased by his parents, and his brother Ronald Michalek. He is survived by his loving wife, Dora Michalek; their children, son Darrell and his spouse Linda, son Tracy and his spouse Marianne, son Kevin and his spouse Kathy, son Doug and his spouse Lori, daughter Beth Ann Bedard and her spouse Todd; grandchildren; Randy, Shawn and Charlie, Shannon and Stephen, Jessica and Abigail, Griffin, Kaleyann, Kaela, Karlyrae and Todd Mike (Scooter); step grandchildren, Caitlin and her spouse Brian, and Joey; great-grandchild Lily Fagan; step great grandchildren, Camrin, Landon and Brinley. He is also survived by his sister Kathy and her husband David Parobek, and his sister-in-law Deanna Michalek.
